What it is
Dear Zoo by Rod Campbell is a lift-the-flap picture book in which a child writes to the zoo asking for a pet, and each animal sent back is not quite right.
Who it's for
Babies and toddlers. The flaps and repetition make it great for reading aloud.
Our experience
A classic in our house. It survives being read again and again.
Honest downsides
Flaps can get torn by very young children, so the board book edition lasts longer.
